Project 363
Hey guys, thought I would detail another one of my builds that is a little different from what we typically build. Primarily we are contacted to build pump gas naturally aspirated street car engines. These usually range from 400-700 hp. This build is going to be a 363 inch turbo motor for a friend of mine. It will be going in a street car with a single turbo on pump gas. I am just buildng the shortblock and will be be going over the build and posting pictures to give you an idea of what goes into an engine like this. Check back for regular updates.
The foundation for the build is this older, worn out Ford R302 block. It is currently 4.040 in bore size and I will be taking it out to 4.125. I will be using an eagle steel crank that was previously balanced with a different rod and piston and it currently has about 7 pieces of heavy metal in it, so there may or may not be some extensive work needed when we go to balance it. The block is in good shape but a few of the cylinders are very rough, and if I were to guess, this engine ate itself up at one time. To achieve 363 inches, I will be using standard parts. 4.125 bore size, 3.400 inch stroke crankshaft, 5.400 H-Beam connecting rods, and 1.090 compression height Probe 4.125 Forged pistons. I will detail all the parts and machine work in the upcoming updates, for now here are a few pictures of the block as I received this weekend.
